Emergency Preparedness

HCHD is currently operating at Normal.

Alert information for staff is available from the district’s intranet, HCHD Staffing and Disaster Information Line (1-888-305-2979) or from their management team. .

Normal or green

All managers and staff assigned responsibilities for hurricane/severe weather and emergency planning and implementation are required to assess, review and prepare plans to ensure a constant state of readiness.

 

Level 1 or Yellow

  • HCHD is open for all business, including patient appointments.
  • Staff is actively monitoring a developing situation.
  • Emergency event may be localized to one or more facilities.
  • All staff report to duty as scheduled.
  • Notification is provided to appropriate management.
  • Staffing and Disaster Information Line (1-888-305-2979) and intranet are updated, as needed.

 

Level 2 or Orange

  • Hurricane ride-out (E1) staff may be released from duty to begin preparations at home and to return to work as directed. Non-essential staff may be released from duty or instructed to not report for duty.
  • Emergency event may be widespread.
  • Incident Command Center is activated.
  • HCHD will usually be open for all scheduled patient appointments but some specific cancellations may occur (Note: Non-essential staff may be re-designated as essential to carry out clinic visits if necessary).
  • Notification is provided to appropriate management.
  • Staffing and Disaster Information Line (1-888-305-2979) and intranet are updated, as needed.

 

Level 3 or Red

  • All outpatient appointments will be cancelled. Typically, this level is only necessary during a hurricane or severe emergency conditions.
  • All operations are coordinated by the Incident Command Center.
  • Recovery (E2) staff are released from duty when the "ride-out" teams (E1) have taken over the operations of the institution (this is applicable to hurricanes only). Essential Rideout-E1 or Recovery-E2) staff are not released from duty during other emergency conditions.
  • Notification is provided to appropriate management.
  • Staffing and Disaster Information Line (1-888-305-2979) and intranet are updated, as needed.
